I, for one, am eagerly awaiting Classic WotLK but I wouldn't want to see a Classic Cata come after it. Cata caused the destruction of a number of old world areas that many people enjoy, altered and removed dungeons that we're most fond of, and forced me to abandon WoW to wait for Legion.
I believe that it would be a good idea if Blizzard was to ever attempt the idea of a Classic+ with an entirely new expansion within the Classic timeline, framed by an alternate timeline which differs from Retail following WotLK they'd need to build something with available assets in the game.
What could we expect to see when we expand? What if... the Cataclysm. Now , you might be thinking that this person didn't simply get into a rant about his hatred for Cata? Yes, I did. However, Blizz might be able to reuse significant chunks of Cata's assets and create a new Classic+ expansion of Cata But What If... Deathwing Didn't appear, causing the Cataclysm. What happens if, in this timeframe Deathwing is fighting for his life and the corruption , and is able to grasp some of his morality, but doesn't emerge from deepholm and transform Azeroth instead, he's creating something much more destructive using elements that are fading away from the Twilight Hammer. The purpose of the story is to strengthen the planes of the elements, and then bring Deathwing down like a vicious dog in his secluded deepholm.
The Zones:
Gilneas at the beginning of an area of phase for Worgen players. The wall does not fall due to the Cataclysm however Forsaken forces are invading with plans to strike Gilneas (Thanks to the rebelling Lords, Sylvanas has made promises to Gilneas the horde as a puppet State for the Horde) and roiling the local wild worgen population. The wall has been damaged and the feral worgen slide through. Gilneas is beginning to build trenches and fortifications at the outskirts of town. The character of the player is in the construction of the encampments as well as the defends Genn and Liam visits invisibly to look over the work when Feral Worgen begin attacking, and the character of the player defends Liam but gets bitten. Genn not wanting the character to be killed due to his bravery, decides to lock the bitten as well as direct his top alchemists in devising the cure or remedy to ensure that the victim does not lose their sense of. (This will eventually lead to the treatment we see in Cata using Nelfs). The conclusion of the initial zone results in the Forsaken getting through the wall, but there is there is a standoff as trench warfare begins to take hold. This leads Genn to dispatch the character of the player to ask for the help of the Alliance to thwart the Forsaken The Alliance is hesitant to offer the official support for their army after the loss of Northrend. However, they provide weapons and also supplies to some former guard alliance soldiers who truly aren't a fan of the horde, and they freely to join the Gilneas army in its struggle. Gilneas is the city that Gilneas will become a brand new capital city and an alliance player hub, with final game activities for alliance and horde as well as a brand new battleground where players will have to face the terrors of trench warfare, and strive to win every inch.
Kezan: Kezan: Horde believes that Gallywix is defying goblin neutrality by favoring the alliance. A Horde spy has met with the player character and has promised huge reward for locating documents regarding Gallywix's activities in preparation for a potential taking over. The goblin player discovers that Gallywix is working with Deathwing and is part of Twilight's Hammer Cult. The Goblin Experience starting zone is like the one above, but there isn't any sinking as a result of a Cataclysm . It's also revealed Gallywix's deceit. The initial zone concludes by the horde having gained an advantage, creating an capital city. Gallywix is in a bunker, preparing his next move, which could bring about a new attack level, eventually murdering Gallywix and shoving Gallywix and the Twilights Hammer cultists off the island.
Vash'jir: This layer of water is becoming weaker and the Earthen Ring is calling the Alliance and Horde aid. As ships sail, the ocean expands, causing ships to crash into the newly drained sea. (much as Nazjatar thus there is no submerged zone).
The quests are comparable leading to the aid of Neptulon which, at the final battle is escorted off by Ozmat. It is expected that the Bastion Of Twilight will soon be followed with the Water Throne raid with 4 bosses (and an exclusive heroic boss) Who will be able to free Neptulon and beat Ozmat, (and a secret Naga boss fight in which players find out they're on orders from Azshara, Queen of the Seas. Azshara to destroy the plane in line with N'Zoth's plan) which will allow them to restore the power of the fundamental water plane.
Uldum Uldum: Most of similar, but the ultimate goal of that of the Throne of the Four Winds and the restoration of Thunderan to his proper place in the air plane.
Dwarven Highlands (what is now once the Twilight Highlands): This area is visually not as impressive as the Bastion of the Twilight tower or the cataclysm that caused scaring or old god maws and tentacles and maws, but it does have a burial state, excluding some fortifications and cultist camps that are closer the Grim Batol. Because of the degeneration of the planes of the elemental, the area has been made visible similar to Uldum. The twilights hammer cult been able to infiltrate dragonmaw Orcs as well as the Wildhammer Dwarfs into engaging one the other to allow them to continue their research within Grim Batol unabated. The alliance and horde have expeditionary fleets that combat the tiwlights' Hammer cult in Grim Batol but first are seeking out locals and eliminating the cultists in charge of the dark ages. Along with gaining the assistance by the Red Dragonflight within the region.
Mount Hyjal: The zone visually isn't smoldering from fire, but is in a natural state. The tale of the region is shifted to preparing for the elemental plane of fire dwindling and being seen in south-central Hyjal. The story focuses on The Guardians of Hyjal making fortifications to take on the foes from the plane of fire as it appears and keeping it to the exact location is the Sulfuron Spire is.
Deepholm The zone has fundamentally transformed to become is an endgame zone populated with Twilight cultists who are their base of operations. Therazane realizing that she and her kids can not stop the cult on their own are left with no choice other than to call the Earthen Ring to seek help. The players are beginning to gain confidence in Therazane and are gaining a foothold in bringing the cultists back to a point where they're at a complete inactivity. This will lead to the final battle that is part of the expansion Deathwings Fall, where the players as well as Therazane along with the Earthen Ring are strengthened through Thunderan, Neptulon, and Therazane are able to fend off the remaining cultists. It's an epic battle that includes Deathwing first take on the players in His Dragonic form, before transforming to his Human Visage during a subsequent period (due to Aspects Aid) as well as the team defeat Deathwing, ending his insanity.
Tol Barad: The same as it was, it's just an additional boss in the raid as there will be four raid levels.
The Raids:
1. Tier 1: Throne of the Four Winds, Throne of Water as well as Blackwing Decent. (Throne of Water is expected to use the gear used in Twilight of Bastion though some gear names are changedand/or
2nd Tier 2nd Tier: The Firelands The Firelands: remains the same, but allows us to strengthen the plane in the final stages making it more secure, thereby thwarting Deathwings plans.
3rd Tier 3rd Tier: 8 Boss raid Twilight's Bunker , Kezan. Alongside some Twilight members such as Cho'gal Gallywix Cho'gal, Gallywix and Sinestra to be the boss at the end. Also, Gallywix dies! Rejoice!
4th Tier Deathwing's Fall 8 Boss Raid, the final chapter of expansion events that led towards the demise of Deathwing.
The Dungeons are largely identical, Except Hour of Twilight isn't even a thing. End Time is reworked to the possibility of ending time, Well of Eternity is generally identical to. We also use the caverns of time to explore additional Bronze Dragon like dungeons such as The Fall of Dalaran were the character of the player is disguised as a scourge, and must stop The Infinite Dragonflight from disrupting the timeline. We also help to kill Archemage Antonidas. There is no re-design of the ZA/GA. Deadmines offers a second entry point to the game, preserving the original deadmines instance, but with a brand new dungeon dubbed Van'cleef's Revenge where players fight Vanessa Vancleef, in the same way as we used to do with The Heroic Deadmines in retail.
Dungeon Difficulties: Challenge Mode is available for existing dungeons. It does not drop any loot but points and badges as well as items that are only cosmetic. Players can choose the most difficult attaches they'd like to from an NPC.
Raid Difficulties: There'll be a 10 and 25 Man Normal and Heroic modes, with loot being identical with the same difficulty.
LFR is available to 25 players just to Throne of Water, Twilight Bunker and Deathwings Fall However, it doesn't drop any anything else. The only thing it does is drop 1 badge for each boss in an every week lockout to get badge equipment.
Bosses are nerfed and mostly to ensure that players can experience the latest raids stories via LFR. (In my opinion, this is the way LFR always ought to have been: there are no gear drops, only one badge, or perhaps valor points or justice points).
PvP: New Battlegrounds and Epic Battlegrounds. The BG's which were included within Cata Originally will be there but they will be replaced by a 40 vs 40 Epic BG on The Gilneas Frontline.
Overall, if Blizzard were to launch the Classic+, I think it could be something like this. They have the majority of the assets made, which is that they have less work to do. It also allows Classic+ to start with something familiar , but also with the what if ...? scenario that alters the course of events. If there was no catastrophe that will change the world, Thrall may not have removed himself as Warchief and continued to oversee and instruct Garrosh. Garrosh and the Forsken Under Sylvanas along with her next Valkyr plan to expand their realm into Gilneas with the pretense of siding with the Rebelling Lords with goals to create Gilneas an opportunistic state for the horde. and not gassing the horde out, and raising them from death but "Liberating" the people of "Tyranny".
