Jagex partners with Steamforged to release Runescape as a board game

Tabletop gaming powerful Steamforged Games, together with the most renowned British video game producer along with the designer of the cult RuneScape series, Jagex, has revealed the first details about this year's RuneScape Gold board game that will be released on Kickstarter this year.


RuneScape Kingdoms: Shadow of Elvarg is an interactive campaign game that is suitable for one to five players, set in the world of RuneScape's fantasy realm of Gielinor. It is driven by story and immersion, rather than a complex strategy, this tabletop game is designed to provide those who are fans of the series an entirely new approach to playing and let them experience the fun and irreverent adventure that is RuneScape for those who aren't familiar playing the MMORPG.


Jagex is a pioneer in the development of deep, community-driven games for PC and mobile devices. The adaptation to a new format lets players "explore the realms that lie between Asgarnia or Misthalin from the sky with an interactive game board that resembles an interactive map that flies between regions as you improve your abilities and complete quests. Steamforged and Jagex have also confirmed that the game's board will feature the first authentic RuneScape model in the shape of miniature tabletop gaming models.


Created in the Steamforged team The miniatures will feature iconic costumes, NPC's and bosses from the IP created in a unique "RuneScape" design for the tabletop. The three first miniatures depict player avatars, including knights wearing platebody armour and a wizard wearing the Staff of Air, and Elvarg the Green Dragon from the well-known Dragon Slayer quest.
