A new audio drama produced by fans records the mission line of RuneScape. British actor Josh Strife Hayes provides a podcast-like adventure for fans of classic MMORPGs. RuneScape, released as early as 2001, is still one of the largest MMORPGs on the market and even recently released as a mobile game. The game is famous for its in-depth skill system, branch tasks and huge economy. Although the current version of the game, RuneScape 3, has a large number of OSRS gold players, it is also controversial due to unlimited microtransactions.
To simplify time, many subscribers have moved to Old School RuneScape. Logging in to this "Old School" version will return players to the 2007 game version. Whether it is nostalgia or gameplay, Josh Strife Hayes will play his own audio drama in the world of Old School RuneScape.
According to Hayes' post on Reddit, he is "rewriting every mission into an adventure-style audio episode." The first two episodes of the show are called "Trouble and Conflict" and are titled "Tutorial Island" and "Cooks Assistant". Indeed, these are the names of the starting area of Old School RuneScape and its first mission. Each episode describes the music and sound effects of classic games from a dramatic first-person perspective. Although listeners may spend countless hours at the location described by Hayes in "Trouble and Conflict," the first time an adventurer sees a detailed explanation of all this, they may have a new understanding of these environments.
Like many MMORPGs, RuneScape requires players to spend a lot of time training various skills in addition to completing tasks. Hayes hopes his audio drama will be "a good backstory" for those who lack glorious skills. In this way, his audio drama is like a podcast. Provide entertainment while the audience continues their daily activities. As each episode's release time exceeds 30 minutes, these lengthy narrations can certainly be easily realized while listening to the game.
Trouble and strife developed RuneScape's knowledge in a unique way. It expands existing content through verbal dramatization. Video games usually naturally cover the visual and auditory expressions of their stories, but the lack of dubbing and detailed visual effects in Old School RuneScape makes imagination fill. Hayes fills these gaps with audio dramas for players who want to pass the time when developing characters. The game's developers continue to publish new content for RuneScape 3, but exclusive fans of Old School RuneScape will continue to expand the 2007 version of the game in an unconventional way.
