Diablo 2 Resurrected's new runeword Plague has been changed...and it's a bit odd however, it could allow for certain specific builds
Diablo 2 Resurrected's new v2.4 patch is set to shake the meta game with numerous new runewords, character balances along with gear adjustment. A brand new D2R runeword is revealed...and it's quite bizarre.
A brand new d2r items runeword has been leaked. It's a redesigned version of Plague, a runeword from the past that was originally scheduled to be released within Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction v1.15 but was rescinded.
There's a reason why Blizzard has altered Plague's stats slightly. Plague's rank has been change into Cham plus Shael and Um. It's which is a significant cost, but also an entirely new application for the under-used Cham rune. The Plague that's been updated Plague appears to be an prototype with a specific usage. Everyone is trying to determine the reason to use Plague instead of something like Hoto and even more formidable melee weapon such as Breath or Grief of the Dying.
The most significant alteration is that Plague is now using 3 socketed swords, instead of common weapons. Another change is that -1 is added in All Skills, and the removal of the +strength attribute since Fal cannot be being used. The damage is now enhanced as a major benefit in raw damage. Other stats are identical.
Plague was a bit strange at start, however it did have its use, possibly for casters. YouTuber Drunski125 explains that Plague's use being limited to swords alone is not the best idea.
"If you could put it into scepters, think of the 3 Fist of Heaven scepter you Plague in, which gives you cleansing aura, and another skill points further incentive to choose something different than Hoto. For example, if for a trapsin you receive an additional +3 light sentry and a +3 Death Sentry claw. you can roll Plague and receive +4 traps, cleanse aura, and again and more reason to use an alternative to Hoto."
